I thought it was about time I did some Jess nail polish swatches considering they are in my local Poundland and therefore only £1 each 😮 !
I went in last week and they had a big stand at the front with hundreds of these polishes on! It was hard to choose between the variety of colours, but here are the lucky 4 😀 :
First up we have ‘playmate’…
The sticker on the top of this nail polish recommends that you apply a white base coat first, so that’s what I did – this brings out the colour more and makes it look more neon 🙂 it also stops the pink from staining your nail 😉 .
Next up is ‘breathless’ which is definitely my favourite out of all the 4 I tried…
‘Breathless’ is a very sheer polish, so again I applied it over a white base coat which looked SO much better than when it was just applied on to my natural nail. With a white base coat it only needs two coats to look like it does in the pictures, and a top coat isn’t required because it’s already so shiny 🙂 .
I could not stop staring at this one, the shimmer is amazing, and for some reason it really reminds me of a Disney Princess 😀 – I can’t wait to use this one again, I would definitely recommend it 🙂 .
The third one I’m showing you is ‘Willow’:
Now there was nothing really special about this one, but I think it would be great for a wedding or an interview. Once again, it had to be applied over a white base coat, otherwise it would need at least 4 coats before you started to notice any colour emerging.
When applied over white, it still needed 3 coats for it to look good. I would have applied more but it wouldn’t have been practical; I’d have been there all day! I do love this pearly look, but I don’t think I will be using it again anytime soon.
Finally, we have ‘all that jazz’ which is a super bold blue:
Unlike ‘playmate’, this one didn’t suggest that you apply it over a white base coat, but I did anyway – you know when you get the feeling that a nail polish will stain your nails? Well I definitely had that feeling with this one, it’s just so blue!
I fell in love with this colour once it was on, it looked far better when applied to nails than it did in the bottle. If you want to get your nails noticed, then this is definitely a good choice, you can’t miss it. As for the shine, it wasn’t great, I would recommend a top coat.
Overall, I am shocked and impressed with the Jess nail polishes. For a £1 they are an absolute bargain! Though they all preferably need to be applied over a white base coat which is time consuming, it’s definitely worth it in the end. The application of them all was so smooth and really easy to use. I personally can’t wait to get back to Poundland to buy more! 🙂
Has anyone else tried these? What colour would you recommend I buy next? 😀
