Color Show Latte and Winter Baby Nail Polish Swatch

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all having a wonderful day. It’s really sunny here in England so me and my boyfriend are camping out tonight woo!

Other exciting news is that there are now only 4 teams left in the World Cup!! Who do you think will win? I think Brazil are the favourites! To keep up to date with the World Cup nail art competition (see here) follow my Twitter account here.

So today’s post is a ‘Color Show Latte and Winter Baby Nail Polish Swatch’. These are my first Color Show nail polishes so I was excited to review them!
Β Here they are:

Color Show Nail Polish Swatch and ReviewI haven’t really done any proper swatches before now as I’ve always preferred to do nail art, but now that I have my new camera I am going to begin ‘swatching’ properly, yay!

So up first we have ‘Winter Baby’ (cute name):

Winter Baby White Color Show Swatch Macro ShotWinter Baby White Nail Polish Swatch ReviewWhite Winter Baby Nail Polish Swatch ReviewReview – Winter Baby – Maybelline New York Color Show

Four coats needed, possibly five if you have the patience
Extremely thin formula
After one coat, it looked as though I had just applied a clear top coat over my natural nail
Can see any lumps you have on your nails because of the thin formula
+ Nice brush and smooth application
+ Nice fresh white once opaque
+ Really shiny
+ Easy to remove

Overall, I would not recommend this as your ‘go-to’ white; it needed lots of coats which isn’t good if you are short on time. However, it does dry fast and you could probably get away with less coats if you apply them in thick layers, and once opaque it looks gorgeous.

Up next we have ‘Latte’ (yum):

Review – Latte – Maybelline New York Color Show

-/+ Two thick coats/three average coats needed
-/+ Gorgeous nude colour, perfect for work/interview, but it was maybe a little light for my liking, my nails felt really bare!
Formula is quite thin
+ Fast drying
+ Shiny on its own without a top coat (though I would still recommend using one for extra shine and durability)
+ Easy to remove

Β Overall, I enjoyed wearing this nail polish for work and I thought it looked lovely, but I think this colour would be better suited as a base coat for nail art designs. Though you probably can’t tell from the pictures, it was a bit too light to be worn on its own (that’s just my personal opinion though, some people may love this by itself).

So that’s all for now, I hope you liked my first real review because I can’t wait to do more πŸ™‚ !

Thanks for reading,
Emily xo

  1. Both of these colors look so elegant and pretty — I always love plain white nails πŸ™‚ It’s always hard to find a white that will look good in less than 3-4 coats! Great swatches!

    • I did enjoy wearing these colours, it was a change from bright bold colours :p and thank you πŸ™‚ ! Imagine if there was a white nail polish that only needed one coat? That would be amazing!

  2. Oh wow I love that white πŸ™‚

    • Yes it’s a really beautiful white once opaque :), shame about the amount of coats it needed though πŸ™

  3. Great swatches! It’s a shame Winter Baby took so many coats – I don’t think I would be able to be that patient! Latte is such a nice colour and really suits your nail shape! I think Germany will win the World Cup! πŸ™‚

    • I know it’s a real shame πŸ™ I’ve ordered a new white nail polish instead, one by Color Club because the reviews were really good! I will have to do a post on it as I know a lot of people are in search of the perfect white :). And thank you πŸ˜€ x
