Avon Opal Top Coat Review

Hi everyone!

I know I’ve been a bit absent after all my Halloween posts, I’ve been planning my Christmas designs ready for the Gallery and the eBook I’m creating 😀 .

Now as you will see from the pictures, I’ve had a bit of a nail change! The square nails just weren’t practical for me (even though I loved having them that way), they just kept tearing at the sides as I use my hands a lot in day to day life.
So I’ve decided to round them off and I’m actually really liking them so far. They remind me of Jayna’s from TheSequinedNail which I love.

Today’s post is based on this stunning Opal Top Coat that I ordered from the Avon book:

There was soo many colours that I wanted to try this on, so I posted in one of the nail groups on Facebook and got a lot of responses (thank you!). The general consensus was that it would look amazing over a dark colour.

After looking in my stash I found an unused deep purple by Avon which I thought would be perfect considering the top coat is by Avon too! It’s called Midnight Plum:

My nails would have looked more opaque if I added another coat (3 coats were used), but I didn’t want to make it any darker than it already was, especially because I was putting glitter over the top anyways 🙂

Here it is with the gorgeous Opal Top Coat:

The picture above is a bit blurry but I thought I would upload it as it really shows off the beautiful flakes

I also only needed one coat on each nail as there was enough glitter on the brush each time, so there was no need to pick out the glitter individually or apply several coats.

I think a clear top coat over this ‘top coat’ definitely seals the glitter in better and adds a lot more shine. I used Seche Vite on mine.

If you want to buy this yourself, it’s only (at the time of writing this) £3 on the Avon website here, or £5.46 plus free delivery on Amazon here.

So what do you think of this nail polish? And do you like my new nail shape?

Thanks for reading,

Emily xo

I got the satin topper and it looks fabby. And I’ve recently got the textured polishes from Avon – pretty cool, certainly the ones I’ve tried 😀

    • Yeah it’s really stunning, especially when the light shines on it and you can see all the beautiful greens and blues. I seen the satin topper and was so tempted to buy! I may have to reconsider if you say it looks fab 😀 x
